Meet Ed Riches
Hello, I am Ed the Support Services Manager
Ed the professional
So what is a Support Services Manager? In very basic terms, if it is broken or does not work, it is my problem and I have to get whatever it is working correctly as soon as possible. My colleagues have also stated that if it is broken or not working it is all my fault! My team and I are committed to ensuring that the support workers and nurses have everything they need to deliver excellent care delivery.
I started my life in the care sector in 2016 having enjoyed a 22 year career in the hospitality industry in various locations in the UK, but mostly in London. My principle responsibility was to bring a non-clinical perspective to delivering great service for residents. The Support Services team which is made up of Houskeeping, Laundry, Kitchen & Maintenance are always there to provide the best possible quality of service and ensure that this is adapted for each resident to cater depending on their specific needs. I work closely with the residents and their families so we can understand what we can do to ensure the time spent with us will be as enjoyable as possible.
I thoroughly enjoy having a presence around the homes and so if you see me and have questions, queries, suggestions or requests……I will be more than happy to make time to listen to what you have to say / suggest.
Ed the person
Having left the glitz & glamour of hotel life, I now have the time to enjoy life with my family. My wife, Lisa, keeps me in check as well as our 2 beautiful girls, Isla & Amy. Away from everything family orientated, which seems to take up much of my life, I try to keep fit be it through running, gym or swimming. During the winter months you will find me on a rugby field playing rugby with people that seem to be much younger than me, but it keeps me out of trouble and a good release from day to day life.
I have been very fortunate to have grown up in Hong Kong and lived there for 8 years of my life in the 80s. I have also had the opportunity to travel the world quite a bit either through work (not too much fun) or through pleasure (much more like it). I love food and always willing to try new and different things, except for courgettes, and enjoy cooking for friends and family.
